Installation Methods for Manual Rolling Shutter Doors

2026 03/25

If your budget is limited when choosing a rolling shutter door, you can opt for a cost-effective manual rolling shutter door. It has a considerable price advantage over electric rolling shutter doors, whose main drawback lies in the relatively high cost of the motor. A well-installed manual rolling shutter door can perform just as well as an electric one in use.

So how to properly install a manual rolling shutter door? Jingping Door Industry has the perfect solution, which is introduced as follows:

  1. After selecting a suitable height for the flywheel disc, fix it on the wall with screws and check if both sides are at the same height.
  2. Install the guide rails. Ensure the rails are vertical at this step: you can find the vertical direction by hanging a heavy object with a thin string and letting it fall naturally under gravity. Adjust the rails slightly if they are skewed.
  3. Install the spring post: first fix the post tightly with screws, then mount the door on the middle disc of the post. Next, wind the springs on both sides tightly and secure them with screws—make sure to wind both springs for the same number of turns. Remember to align the direction first before drilling holes on the door and the disc.
  4. Roll up the door. If the spring tension is insufficient, wind the springs a few more times until they are tight enough. Pull the door into the guide rails and test the sliding. If it works smoothly, use angle iron to block the rails for fixation. Finally, weld the protective casing and paint the welding joints.
